DSC has confirmed with more than one industry source that the LMH Hypercar programme, revealed on these pages in May from the relaunched Isotta Fraschini brand has progressed from the conceptual stage to a completed design with a prototype car understood to be currently in build.

The programme is understood to involve an impressive group of industry technical partners including Williams Advanced Engineering, (understood to have been involved in the aero packaging and design), Michelotto (design engineering and construction) and an as-yet unconfirmed OEM engine partner for the car’s internal combustion engine.

DSC sources suggest that the engine is a production-based six cylinder powerplant from a major German OEM.

There are further suggestions that the car could be intended to race as early as 2023 with a high-profile multiple title-winning driver already understood to be close to being confirmed as the programme’s test, development and first factory driver.
